When food becomes a phobia

When food becomes a fixed idea, the emphasis of each day, a phobia that ruins lives, then we talk about eating disorders. Suffering from disturbances of feeding behaviour, according to a recent study in Emilia Romagna in Italy is about 6% of the national population, while nearly 40% of Italian women between 16 and 18 years old confessed of having a hate relationship towards food they feel uncomfortable with food.

Several types of disorders exist: anorexia and less common but devastating, bulimia and all those behaviors that fall under the name of ‘binge eating '.

Young Western women are the most affected by these types of disorders, however are also affected. There are many symptoms of these some of the more common are excessive concern with everything that is ' food-related’, eating in secret, vomiting and irritability during meals.
